From our beginnings in the heart of Bristol to where we stand today, one thing that has remained constant is our commitment to personal growth, hands-on development, and putting people first.

In an industry like sales and face-to-face marketing, the challenges are unpredictable, the learning is live, and the growth is real. That’s why we recently decided to go straight to the source, our team, to ask them one simple, powerful question:

“What has sales taught you that university didn’t?”

The responses were honest, insightful, and a brilliant reflection of what it’s like to work at RedSeven Marketing.

“For me, it’s all about learning to think on my feet. At university, success follows a structured path; you’re rewarded for well-researched, carefully prepared answers, often with months to plan ahead. But in sales, you have seconds to react, adapt, and tailor your pitch in real time. Every conversation is live, unscripted, and unpredictable. Sales has taught me to stay sharp, respond quickly, and genuinely read the room, not just the textbook.”

This one really hits home for us. In sales, things don’t always go according to plan – and that’s where creativity and adaptability come in. Unlike the safety net of an assignment deadline, every pitch is an opportunity to grow your skillset on the spot.

“For me, it’s definitely the power of conversation. As a medic, I’m used to talking to people in challenging situations, but nothing has pushed me, or satisfied me, quite like sales. In a hospital, patients and families often trust what you say without question. In sales, you have to earn that trust from the ground up. And when you do, it feels incredibly rewarding. It’s wild to think that a five‑minute conversation can have the power to actually make such an impact. Working in sales has taught me so much about communication, psychology, and human behaviour – it’s even made me rethink everyday conversations. The smallest shift in tone or body language can completely change the outcome.”

This insight reflects something we see every day at RedSeven Marketing: the strength of authentic, face-to-face connections. Trust, respect, and empathy can make all the difference – skills that can’t be learned in a lecture hall.

“Sales has pushed me far beyond what university ever did. While uni is social, especially in STEM, it’s more about hands-on work than public speaking. In contrast, sales is constant interaction, and that’s what helped build my confidence. I’ve learned how to influence people, handle rejection, and bounce back stronger. One of the biggest lessons? A bad day doesn’t define your worth. It’s all about perspective. When you take feedback and use it, you see results almost instantly. And I’ve come to realise that stress is often a choice; if you shift your energy into finding solutions instead of focusing on problems, everything changes.”

This is one of our favourite takeaways – the resilience and growth mindset that sales nurtures. Success here isn’t just about hitting targets; it’s about learning to thrive through challenges, keeping a level head, and continuously developing your confidence.

“One valuable thing sales has given me that university never could is the ability to navigate the real world. It’s challenged me with real hurdles and given me the freedom to figure out solutions myself, with guidance and support, but also the independence to grow, instead of the purely hypothetical, controlled scenarios you get at university.”

And that’s exactly what we aim to do at RedSeven Marketing – give every team member a supportive environment where they can stretch their wings, build practical skills, and face the real world with confidence.

The Power of Sales at RedSeven Marketing
Every response we received echoes the core of our culture at RedSeven Marketing. Success here is about more than closing a deal – it’s about cultivating resilience, communication, empathy, and initiative. It’s about learning by doing, with the kind of hands-on experiences that prepare you for whatever comes next.

That’s the power of sales.
That’s the power of our people.
And that’s what makes RedSeven Marketing different.

Ready to take the next step in your career? Get in touch with us and discover what you can achieve when you grow with RedSeven Marketing.

At RedSeven Marketing, we believe that real-world experience shapes people in ways a classroom never could.
